Dr. Brown's Town House

Dr. Brown's Town House

c. 1860

Young Dr. Joseph T. Brown (1838-1889) built his house just before 1860. The front of the house is the original. The typical mid-century, double-deck dwelling was the residence of the James Wiley, Sr., family for many years. This plantation plain, or "I" house, has brackets, a full-length two story gallery, trabeated lights at the entrance, and a four paneled door with arched upper panels.
