In 1870, Reverend A.M. Atkinson was the principal of the Social Circle Male and Female High School which was opened on March 26, 1870. The Gresham Family purchased the home sometime in the late 1800’s and lived there until c. 1927. The house became know as the Catherine Gresham Townhouse and was considered to be a New England style “snow house.‘ In 1927 the house was sold to Mr. and Mrs. Thurmond Baccus, the parents of Ms. Sarah Baccus Stephens who sold the property c. 1988. The house was subsequently rented to several families until it was purchased by Celeste Dupree in 1999. The present owners completed the restoration and moved in June, 2002.
