198 North Dogwood Avenue
Hurst-Adams-Malcom-St. John-Hunt House
Current owners: Bill & Diane Hunt
Designed and built in 1914, this one-and-one-half story, center-hall
bungalow features a full covered front porch, Prairie-style hip roof, Craftsman
shed dormers and Greek-Revival roof trim. Famed writer Wylly Folk St. John
lived in the home with her husband, Tom, from 1976 until her death in 1985.
Here, she penned nine children’s mystery novels, including the best-selling
“The Mystery Book Mystery.” The home became rental property and
fell into disrepair after St. John’s death, and the current owners have
been restoring and renovating since they purchased the home in 1994.
