Gunter Hall -- Historic Preservation Society of Social Circle, Inc., Headquarters

The Historic Preservation Society of Social Circle, Inc., is dedicated to the preservation of our community heritage through education about and conservation of our historic resources.  The Society is made up of volunteers who are committed to the achievement of this mission.

Since 1990, the Society has worked toward achieving two main objectives:

Acquisition and restoration of a significant historic property to serve as a Community History Center.

Development of a broad-based membership to grow the Society in order to provide community-based programs.

In 1990, the Society purchased the Nebhut-Akridge-Gunter House (c. 1840-1855).  Now known as Gunter Hall, this historic home is the current Headquarters of the Historic Preservation Society of Social Circle, Inc.

In the past fifteen years, our membership has grown to nearly 150, and more than $200,000 has been raised in a town of about 3500 individuals.  As a result, Gunter Hall is nearing full restoration.

If you would like to contribute to our efforts, please send your tax-deductible donation to:
